Basketball Recap: Cheraw Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Cheraw, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They walked away with a 49-41 win over the Chesterfield Golden Rams on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Braves: when they faced off against the Golden Rams last Friday, they had to take a 46-39 defeat.

Cheraw had a senior duo take command as Jaleah Faulkner posted 15 points and Cherita Burns scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Sa'Nya Murray, who had eight points.

Despite the loss, Chesterfield saw an underclassman step up: freshman Reagan Rivers dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Rivers has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Terrahjah Robinson, who put up nine points and seven rebounds.

Cheraw pushed their record up to 17-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points over those games. As for Chesterfield, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

Looking ahead, Cheraw will be playing at home against Chesnee at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Chesterfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
