Softball Recap: Chapman Has No Trouble Against Chesnee

Chapman made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Chesnee, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Eagles on Monday. The Panthers not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 12th.

Alexis Floyd spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Krisylyn Wilder, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Layla Bishop also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

The win got Chapman back to even at 6-6. As for Chesnee, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chapman will challenge Blue Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Fighting Tigers have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matches. As for Chesnee, they will square off against Blacksburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
