Softball Recap: Springbrook Comes Up Short

Springbrook extended their losing streak to eight on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-9. They lost 24-8 to the Magruder Colonels. If the Blue Devils were looking for revenge after losing 33-17 to the Colonels when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Magruder, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 12-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.7 runs over those games.

For Magruder's part, Karina Sharma was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Sharma was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Addie Belcher was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five runs, and two stolen bases. Belcher is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Emma Rash was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springbrook will host Blake at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Magruder, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Gaithersburg at 2:00 p.m.
