Volleyball Game Preview: Firth Cougars vs. Butte County Pirates

The Firth Cougars will head out to square off against the Butte County Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Firth sitting on nine straight wins and Butte County on six.

While Firth's victory against North Fremont wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cougars had just enough and edged out the Huskies 3-2 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted against the Huskies since September 13, 2022.

Firth took North Fremont into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 26-23, 21-25, 25-27, 15-12.

Meanwhile, Butte County beat Sugar-Salem 2-0 on Saturday.

Firth's record now sits at 14-6. As for Butte County, their record is now 18-2.

Firth might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Butte County in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
