Softball Game Preview: Bishop Amat Lancers vs. West Covina Bulldogs

The Bishop Amat Lancers will head out on the road to square off against the West Covina Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. West Covina took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Bishop Amat, who comes in off a win.

On Thursday, Bishop Amat earned a 10-6 victory over St. Paul. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lancers.

Samantha Garcia was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Garcia was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

Garcia wasn't the only one making solid contact as ten players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bryanna Mendoza, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Mendoza also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another was Avery Hipolito, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Bishop Amat kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 10.6.

Meanwhile, West Covina fell victim to San Dimas and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 26-0 to the Saints.

West Covina's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5-1. As for Bishop Amat, their record now sits at 8-9.
