Basketball Recap: Goshen Comes Up Short

If Goshen was feeling good fresh off their 78-48 takedown of Clinton-Massie last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Goshen Warriors took a 54-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Turpin Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the first time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, with their most recent defeat being a 54-48 loss on Tuesday.

Despite the defeat, Goshen saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bray Settelmayer posted 13 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Settelmayer is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games he's played. Karson Alderman was another key player, going 5-for-6 en route to 10 points.

Goshen has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season. As for Turpin, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-12.

Goshen has already played their next matchup, a 54-48 loss against Turpin on the 18th. Turpin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
