Softball Game Preview: Tioga Pirates vs. Larimore Polar Bears

The Tioga Pirates will challenge the Larimore Polar Bears at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Tioga is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of North Dakota's top teams: Ray, who was ranked 13th at the time (Tioga was ranked 23rd). The Pirates came up short against the Ray Jays on Monday, falling 25-7. The contest marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Tioga saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katie Haakenson, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was Haakenson's first of the season. Another was Kambree Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Meanwhile, Larimore was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 26-4 to Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg.

Larimore's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Tioga, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.
