Basketball Game Preview: Hermantown Hawks vs. Cloquet Lumberjacks

The Hermantown Hawks will venture away from home to challenge the Cloquet Lumberjacks at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.

Hermantown will head into Tuesday's game out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Duluth East and fell 93-41.

Meanwhile, Cloquet had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.9 points) and they went ahead and made it ten on Friday. They blew past the Agates, posting an 88-45 win. The Lumberjacks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 23 points or more this season.

Hermantown dropped their record down to 2-10 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Cloquet, their victory bumped their record up to 12-1.

Everything came up roses for Hermantown against Cloquet in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 106-79 win. Will Hermantown repeat their success, or does Cloquet have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
