Softball Recap: Duchesne Takes a Loss

Duchesne and Beaver squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Duchesne had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Beavers by a score of 17-15. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Eagles have suffered since April 12th.

Chezney Farnsworth stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 1-for-5 with one home run and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Anderton, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Duchesne and nudges their season record down to 24-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 29-1 South Sevier (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 85.1% over those games). As for Beaver, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 25-9.

Duchesne does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Beaver, they will square off against South Sevier at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Rams will roll in looking for their 30th straight win, something the Beavers surely won't give up without a fight.
