Softball Game Preview: Richmond High School for the Arts Bulldogs vs. Monacan Chiefs

Richmond High School for the Arts is 0-6 against Monacan since May of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Bulldogs will square off against the Chiefs at 5:00 p.m. Neither Richmond High School for the Arts nor Monacan posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Richmond High School for the Arts is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 20th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They came up short against Clover Hill, falling 18-2.

Midlothian hit Monacan with a four-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Chiefs might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 9-1 to the Trojans, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Chiefs have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Emori Burns spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and six unearned) runs on six hits.
