Brunswick (Conn.) uses 'Cuckoo' trick play to win game

Game-winner is one of the best trick plays of the season.

With the game on the line against Salisbury trailing 21-20, Brunswick (Greenwich, Conn.) head coach Jarrett Shine dipped into his bag of tricks and got a little crazy.

He signaled his team to run its "Cuckoo" play.

Brunswick offensive coordinator Kevin Decker learned this play during his time coaching at New Hampshire, where, perhaps not ironically, Chip Kelly first rose to prominence.

According to Shine, the team practiced the play over the last three weeks, but was unable to perfect the play.

Still, Shine decided to the roll the dice.

"When your back is against the wall, you're willing to try most things," he told MaxPreps.

After the snap to quarterback Billy O'Malley, the ball went through three different players before ending up back in the hands of senior Malik Wilder, who used his speed and vision to race into the end zone.

The 47-yard score with just five seconds remaining lifted Brunswick to a thrilling 28-21 victory.

The "Cuckoo" play was just so crazy that it actually worked.
