Baseball Game Preview: Orange Panthers vs. Whittier Christian Heralds

The Orange Panthers will be taking part in a tournament against the Whittier Christian Heralds at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Whittier Christian took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Orange, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, Orange got the win against La Quinta by a conclusive 20-1. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Aztecs: they've now won three in a row.

Mitchell Osorio spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Orange got a massive performance out of Daniel Vergara, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Cooper Gschwend-Son, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and four RBI.

Meanwhile, Whittier Christian fell victim to Brea Olinda and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Wildcats, falling 12-0. Having soared to a lofty 23 runs in the game before, the Heralds' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Whittier Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Terry Han, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Orange's win bumped their record up to 2-0-1. As for Whittier Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
