Baseball Game Preview: C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons vs. Triton Hawks

The C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons will challenge the Triton Hawks on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

C.B. Aycock is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over Currituck County. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Golden Falcons have posted since April 15th.

Beckett Cruse looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Janeson Steele was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Triton faced off against South Central on Tuesday. The Hawks skirted past the Falcons 4-2.

Kason Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). Brown was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chase Sewell, who went 3-for-4 with two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Triton's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-1 (and 7-9 when he doesn't).

Triton has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for C.B. Aycock, their win bumped their record up to 12-13.
