Basketball Recap: El Camino Comes Up Short

If El Camino was feeling good fresh off their 64-42 takedown of Sacramento Adventist last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The El Camino Eagles fell 58-50 to the Center Cougars on Thursday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2021.

Center was led to victory by Tima Makovey and Andy McLear. Makovey posted 29 points, while McLear almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Makovey has scored at least a third of Center's points. Another player making a difference was Damian Sandridge, who put up four points and eight rebounds.

El Camino has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Center, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season.

El Camino will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Natomas at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Center, they will finish 2024 at home by hosting Fortuna on Thursday. One thing working in Center's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games.
