Baseball Recap: Hope Christian Has No Trouble Against East Mountain

Hope Christian barely beat East Mountain the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hope Christian Huskies were the clear victor by a 10-3 margin over the East Mountain Timberwolves on Tuesday. The Huskies haven't had any issues with the Timberwolves recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Avery Dearholt looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Trey Baillio and Keegan Johnson did most of the damage at the plate: Baillio went 2-for-3 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI, while Johnson scored two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most RBI Baillio has posted since back in April of 2024. Porter Chastain was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Hope Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Hope Christian's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for East Mountain, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hope Christian will challenge West Mesa at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hope Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so West Mesa's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for East Mountain, they will face off against Atrisco Heritage Academy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Atrisco Heritage Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
