Basketball Recap: Washington County Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Washington County can now relate to. They received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 70-56 to the Southern Wake Academy Lions. It was the first time this season that the Panthers let down their fans at home.

Southern Wake Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ira Wilson led the charge by dropping a double-double with 12 points and ten assists. That's the most points Wilson has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Kobe Plata, who shot 60% from the field on his way to 13 points and six assists.

Washington County's loss dropped their record down to 22-4. As for Southern Wake Academy, the win was the 15th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 29-4.

Washington County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Southern Wake Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 58-55 defeat against Corvian Community on the 14th.
