Who's up and who's down

In this week's power rankings, we saw one team go soaring up and another team come crashing down, along with everything in between. A special shoutout goes to Collins's junior Hershey Mclaurin, who scored six total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.

Can't Touch This

Ridgeland's 54 - 30 win over Vicksburg last week had a lot to do with the leadership of junior Markell Young. Young ran for 269 yards and also punched in five touchdowns. That performance landed Young among the top power-ranked players for the week.

This Week's Big Showdown

The confrontation between Madison Central (7th in the MaxPreps state rankings) and Starkville (2nd) did not disappoint. Madison Central wasn't too far behind, but it still lost 21 - 17 to Starkville. Madison Central wasn't expected to pull off the win given its disadvantage in the MaxPreps national rankings, but that is little consolation.
