Volleyball Recap: Herscher Tigers vs. Coal City Coalers
Herscher was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Coal City Coalers. The Tigers were not able to make up for their loss to the Coalers from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.
Herscher started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 19-25, 25-9, 25-14.
Coal City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Keirsten Gabehart, who had five aces and three digs. That's the most aces Gabehart has posted since back in August. Sydney Larson was another key player, getting eight digs and four aces.
Herscher's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Coal City, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-10-1.
