Freedom came into Monday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They won by a set and slipped past the Wilkes Central Eagles 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Patriots: when they faced off against the Eagles two weeks ago, they had to take a 3-1 defeat.
Freedom took Wilkes Central into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-18, 22-25, 20-25, 16-14.
Jaylyn Rhoades and Laila Nickens certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Rhoades had 12 digs and three assists, while Nickens had 14 digs and two assists.
The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-9. As for Wilkes Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.
Freedom wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-1 loss against South Caldwell on the 16th. As for Wilkes Central, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against East Wilkes on the 16th.
