Lakeview has gone a perfect 10-0 against Hubbard recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bulldogs are taking a road trip to face off against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m.
Lakeview is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Boardman just ended the team's four-match winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. Surprisingly, this marked the Bulldogs' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 23-25, 25-12, 25-22.
Meanwhile, Hubbard waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Indians.
The victory didn't come easy: Girard scored at least 19 points in every set. The final score came out to 27-25, 24-26, 25-19, 25-21.
Lakeview better focus on containing Emma TEtrick and Sarah Brand as the pair were huge in Hubbard's win. TeTrick had 17 digs, while Brand had 13 digs. That's the most digs TeTrick has posted since back in September. The team also got some help courtesy of HaleigH Taylor, who had 12 digs.
Hubbard was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their ace total in three consecutive matches.
Lakeview's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Hubbard, their record now sits at 12-6.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's matchup: Lakeview has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 7.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Hubbard struggles in that department as they've been averaging 12.4 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Lakeview beat Hubbard 3-1 in their previous matchup back in September. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
