Baseball Recap: West Ranch Takes a Loss

Saturday just wasn't the day for West Ranch's offense. They fell just short of the Foothill Knights by a score of 2-0 on Saturday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2019.

West Ranch got a good showing from Aaden LaRoe, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. LaRoe has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, West Ranch saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caydin Wilson, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

West Ranch's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-8. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.67 runs. As for Foothill, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

West Ranch didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-2 loss against Aliso Niguel on the 21st. As for Foothill, they will square off against Villa Park at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
