Basketball Recap: Sequatchie County Comes Up Short

Sequatchie County lost against Van Buren County back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Sequatchie County Indians opened the new year with a less-than-successful 63-54 loss to the Van Buren County Eagles. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Sequatchie County lost, don't look at Beckham McKendrick. Despite the final result, he went 7 for 13 on his way to 18 points and three steals. McKendrick has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Ryker Terry was another key player, putting up 11 points and five rebounds.

The defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 6-5. As for Van Buren County, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Sequatchie County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 86-75 victory against Sale Creek on the 7th. As for Van Buren County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 45-26 win against Monterey on the 7th.
