Basketball Game Preview: Academic Magnet Raptors vs. Hanahan Hawks

The Academic Magnet Raptors will head out on the road to take on the Hanahan Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Academic Magnet is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Bishop England on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Academic Magnet was beaten by Bishop England 69-23. While losing is never fun, the Raptors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Battling Bishops are ranked 13th).

Evie Walldorf was Academic Magnet's leading scorer, having posted eight points. Walldorf also led the team in rebounds with six. Lindsey Griffin took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with four assists.

Meanwhile, Hanahan didn't have too much trouble with Philip Simmons on Wednesday as they won 35-21. That looming 35-21 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Hawks yet this season.

Hanahan now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Academic Magnet, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.

Academic Magnet came up short against Hanahan in their previous meeting on Friday, falling 53-46. Can Academic Magnet avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
