Basketball Recap: Cole Extends Winning Streak to Five

Cole extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping them up to 11-1. Everything went their way against the Lytle Pirates as they made off with a 64-38 win. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 25 points or more this season.

Cole's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nolan Richardson, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. Richardson is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 60% in the last four games he's played. Alex Downing was another key player, going 6-for-7 on his way to 16 points and eight boards.

Cole smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 15 consecutive games dating back to last season.

As for Lytle, they now have a losing record of 3-4. They haven't had much luck with Cole recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Several Pirates players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Seth Pierce, who shot 40% from the field to rack up 16 points and five rebounds. Pierce also posted a block, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Chase Guevara, who posted 11 points and five steals.

Cole has already played their next matchup, a 53-43 loss against London on the 5th. Lytle has also already played their next contest (against St. Anthony), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
