Basketball Game Preview: Junipero Serra Padres vs. St. Ignatius College Preparatory Wildcats

Last Thursday, Junipero Serra strolled past Acalanes with points to spare, taking the game 70-53. Given the Padres' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Dons are ranked 155th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when St. Ignatius College Preparatory challenged Inderkum on Monday. St. Ignatius College Preparatory lost to Inderkum on the road by a 64-50 margin. The game marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Junipero Serra's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.1 points per game. As for St. Ignatius College Preparatory, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.

Junipero Serra came up short against St. Ignatius College Preparatory in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 53-49. Can Junipero Serra avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
