Soccer Game Preview: Center Point-Urbana vs. Independence

The Center Point-Urbana Stormin' Pointers will venture away from home to face off against the Independence Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Independence will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Center Point-Urbana extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday. The Stormin' Pointers' defense stepped up to hand West Delaware a 10-0 shutout. Give Center Point-Urbana's defense some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.

Meanwhile, Independence waltzed into their game on Tuesday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Raiders. Independence's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last nine matches.

Independence's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-1-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those seven contests. As for Center Point-Urbana, their win bumped their record up to 11-3-1.

Center Point-Urbana came up short against Independence in their previous meeting back in April, falling 2-0. Can the Stormin' Pointers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
