Basketball Game Preview: Trinity Christian Lions vs. Spalding Jaguars

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Trinity Christian Lions face off against the Spalding Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday... Trinity Christian has now lost 14 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since November 9.

Trinity Christian is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Whitewater on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Trinity Christian lost 68-48 to Whitewater. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 453rd, while the Wildcats are ranked 221st).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Cameron Wallace, who went 7 of 16 on his way to 18 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Hart, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 12 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Spalding's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Upson-Lee by a score of 53-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Jaguars have suffered against the Knights since January 10, 2020.

Like Trinity Christian, Spalding lost despite seeing results from several players. Keelan Day led the charge by putting up 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. Day's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Terdell Hightower, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 15 points.

Trinity Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Spalding, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.

Trinity Christian ended up a good deal behind Spalding in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, losing 75-60. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Spalding's Tavares Stinson, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds.
