Softball Recap: Larue County Gets the Win

Larue County and Hart County pushed the score to 13-6 the last time they played Hart County, but on Monday defenses reigned supreme. The Hawks never let the Raiders get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

The result came thanks to Ellee Marksbury's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Larue County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooklynn Skaggs, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

Larue County's win bumped their record up to 18-6. As for Hart County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-11 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Larue County will venture away from home to challenge Caverna at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Colonels have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Hart County, they are taking a road trip to take on Green County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dragons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.58 runs per game on average), something the Raiders will no doubt try to take advantage of.
