Volleyball Recap: Western Boone Stars vs. Southwood Knights
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Western Boone had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They won by a set and slipped past the Southwood Knights 3-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Stars who have now won five contests in a row.
Western Boone's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Janie Ransom, who had 15 digs, a kill, and 59 assists. Ransom is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 15 or more in the last 58 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Olivia Smith, who had 18 digs.
Western Boone has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 24-5 record this season. As for Southwood, with the defeat, they broke their 51-game winning streak and moved their record to 33-1.
Western Boone has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Woodlan on the 2nd. Southwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
