Basketball Game Preview: Mapleton Sailors vs. Crow/City First Christian Academy

The Mapleton Sailors will take on Crow/City First Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mapleton is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

Mapleton will bounce into Thursday's game after beating Triangle Lake, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Mapleton secured a 34-29 W over Triangle Lake on Tuesday. The 34-point effort marked the Sailors' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Mapleton found their leader in sophomore Lucie Burruss, who posted 20 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Burruss has scored at least a third of Mapleton's points. Another player making a difference was Abbi Mendez Galvan, who put up nine points and five boards.

Meanwhile, Crow/City First Christian Academy came up short against Eddyville on Tuesday and fell 35-26. Crow/City First Christian Academy has struggled against Eddyville recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Crow/City First Christian Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-7. As for Mapleton, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.

Everything came up roses for Mapleton against Crow/City First Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 47-20 victory.
