Baseball Recap: Waccamaw Takes a Loss

Waccamaw lost against Aynor last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Warriors fell just short of the Blue Jackets by a score of 7-6. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Diego Patrick was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Christian Galasso and Evan Barnett did some serious damage despite the final result: Galasso scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Barnett scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Rostan Pate was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Waccamaw's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Aynor, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waccamaw will welcome Loris at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Aynor, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Johnsonville at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Blue Jackets 3.2, the Flashes 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
