Softball Recap: Piqua Indians vs. Troy Trojans
Piqua extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 3-5 in the process. They came up short against the Troy Trojans, falling 7-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-2 on Wednesday.
As for Troy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-5. Considering they have won 14 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
For Troy's part, not much got past Riley King, who gave up just four hits to keep Piqua off the board. King has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 19 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mimi Shaw, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Emily May, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Piqua does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Troy, they will square off against Fort Recovery at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
