Baseball Game Preview: Whiteoak Wildcats vs. Eastern Warriors

The Whiteoak Wildcats will venture away from home to face off against the Eastern Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Eastern took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Whiteoak, who comes in off a win.

Whiteoak came out on top against Fayetteville-Perry on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run second inning. The Wildcats' pitcher stepped up to hand the Rockets a 10-0 shutout. The Wildcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Isaiah Cliff was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Cliff was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jonah Michael, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI and one run. Jake Kylie also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Whiteoak was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Eastern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 14-4 to Fayetteville-Perry.

Whiteoak's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Eastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Whiteoak suffered a grim 9-2 defeat to Eastern when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
