Baseball Recap: South El Monte Now 9-2 over Last 11 Games

While South El Monte put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Rosemead. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Panthers. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Ryan Leon's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Christian Ortega, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Armando Huizar, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

South El Monte is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Rosemead, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-13.

South El Monte has already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Arroyo on the 5th. As for Rosemead, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 5-2 win against Gabrielino on the 5th.
