Baseball Recap: Manatee Hurricanes vs. DeSoto County Bulldogs

Manatee took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against DeSoto County, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Manatee Hurricanes sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the DeSoto County Bulldogs on Tuesday. The Hurricanes haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Malachi Cleto looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Gus Eylar was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Nick Zunica was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Manatee now has a winning record of 3-2. As for DeSoto County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.
Looking ahead, Manatee will welcome Parrish Community at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for DeSoto County, they are taking a road trip to face off against Avon Park at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Avon Park will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something DeSoto County surely won't give up without a fight.
