Basketball Recap: Edison Takes a Loss

Edison was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 73-65 to the Justin Garza Guardians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Guardians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 65-56 back in December of 2024.

Justin Garza's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Payton Powell led the charge by going 9-for-17 on his way to 22 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. Josiah Wilson was another key player, going 6-for-13 en route to 18 points and five boards.

Edison's loss dropped their record down to 5-24. As for Justin Garza, they pushed their record up to 20-7 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home.

Edison has already played their next match, a 66-47 defeat against Sanger on the 12th. As for Justin Garza, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 74-38 victory against Madera South on the 12th.
