Softball Recap: Mabel-Canton Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mabel-Canton). They were the clear victors by a 23-5 margin over the Lyle/Pacelli Athletics on Tuesday. With that victory, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 7.3 runs per game.

Mabel-Canton got a massive performance out of Kira Snyder, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Snyder a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hailee Eiken, who went 2-for-6 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Mabel-Canton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 10.4.

The win was the fifth in a row for Mabel-Canton, bringing their record up to 8-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Lyle/Pacelli, their defeat was their 20th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8.

Looking ahead, Mabel-Canton will venture away from home to take on Schaeffer Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lyle/Pacelli, they will welcome Houston at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
