Football Recap: MacArthur Comes Up Short + How To Watch

MacArthur played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 42-7 loss at the hands of the Westfield Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Generals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 850th, while the Mustangs are ranked 187th).

MacArthur didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Julien Salinas and Xavier Raygoza.

Demonte Ford was nothing short of spectacular for Westfield: he rushed for 174 yards and four scores on only nine carries. Those 174 rushing yards gave Ford a new career-high. Westfield also got help from Emmanuel Yancy, who showed off his sure hands for 84 receiving yards.

This is the second loss in a row for MacArthur and nudges their season record down to 2-6. As for Westfield, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-3.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. MacArthur is set to face off against their familiar foe Dekaney at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Westfield will challenge rival Benjamin Davis at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st.
