The Capital Bruins will head out to take on the Great Falls Bison at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Capital is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Capital took a 15-run defeat the last time they faced off against Sentinel, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bruins won by a run and slipped past the Spartans 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bruins have posted against the Spartans since April 28, 2022.
Madi Emmert was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Ali Miller, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Great Falls didn't have quite enough to beat Skyview on Saturday and fell 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bison have suffered against the Falcons since May 7, 2022.
Isabella Saunders was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aletta Hagen, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Great Falls' defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Capital, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-9.
Great Falls' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Capital has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Great Falls, though, as they've been averaging 11 hits. Given Capital's sizable advantage in that area, the Bison will need to find a way to close that gap.
