Chandler barely beat Mountain Pointe the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went the Chandler Wolves' way against the Mountain Pointe Pride on Saturday as the Chandler Wolves made off with a 19-1 victory. With that win, the Wolves brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
Luis Valenzuela looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).
At the plate, Brian Romero was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Dylan Lopez was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.
Chandler always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .540. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Chandler's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2-1. As for Mountain Pointe, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chandler will challenge Desert Vista at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Desert Vista's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Chandler's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Mountain Pointe, they will face off against Ironwood at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Pointe has given up an average of 8.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
