Baseball Recap: Tunkhannock Tigers vs. Wyoming Area Warriors
Tunkhannock had lost ten straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-12 to make it 11. They lost 17-1 to the Wyoming Area Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-1 on April 2nd.
As for Wyoming Area, the victory got them back to even at 6-6. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
For Wyoming Area's part, Marco Altavilla looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave Altavilla a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Jeremy Layland was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was David Fath, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Tunkhannock will face off against Valley View at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Wyoming Area, they will host Lake-Lehman at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
