Soccer Recap: DeKalb Comes Up Short

DeKalb lost against Guilford back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Barbs lost 7-0 to the Vikings. While losing is never fun, DeKalb can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 187th, while Guilford are ranked 35th).

This is the second loss in a row for DeKalb and nudges their season record down to 4-6. As for Guilford, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-1-1.

Coming up, DeKalb will head out on the road to face off against Rockford Auburn at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. DeKalb will be up against Rockford Auburn's rather soft defense (which has allowed five goals per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Guilford, they will be taking part in a tournament against St. Laurence at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.
