Basketball Game Preview: South Lyon East Cougars vs. Mott Corsairs

The South Lyon East Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Mott Corsairs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

South Lyon East is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Lakeland just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 47-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Cougars came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Eagles are ranked 234th).

Meanwhile, Mott beat Notre Dame Prep 65-55 on Tuesday.

Mott pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points per game. As for South Lyon East, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-2.

South Lyon East ended up a good deal behind Mott when the teams last played back in February of 2024, losing 60-46. Can South Lyon East avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
