There's no place like home for Spartanburg Day, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Palmetto Christian Academy 73-16. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-14.
Spartanburg Day got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Katelyn Bopp out in front who shot 62% from the field to rack up 21 points in addition to six steals and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Clara Matz, who went 10-for-17 on her way to 20 points and seven rebounds.
The victory got Spartanburg Day back to even at 1-1. As for Palmetto Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
Looking ahead, Spartanburg Day will face off against Gaston Day at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans' defense has only allowed 28.2 points per game this season, so the Griffins' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Palmetto Christian Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while.
