 Sadly, Monticello is still looking for their first win of the season after six  matches. Their  tough  17-1 defeat to the Grand County Red Devils  on Thursday might stick with them for a while.
 Monticello saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Madi Snyder, who  scored a  run while going 1-for-1.
 On Grand County's side,  hope Shumway made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she  pitched two innings while giving up   no  earned run off   one  hit (she also didn't allow any  walks). Shumway was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs while going 2-for-2.
 In other batting news,  Rhi Hren was a standout: she scored two  runs while  getting on base  in all three of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was  Dani Hirschfeld, who  scored two  runs while  getting on base  in all three of her plate appearances.
 Monticello's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Grand County, they pushed their record up to 5-4 with that  win, which was their fifth straight  at home.
 Monticello will take on Altamont at 2:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Altamont is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 10.8  runs per game this season. As for Grand County, they will head out on the road to  face off against  San Juan at 3:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
