Basketball Recap: Shades Valley Takes a Loss

If Shades Valley was feeling good fresh off their 47-24 takedown of Pell City last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Shades Valley Mounties lost to the Oxford Yellow Jackets on the road by a 48-29 margin on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Mounties can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 40th).

Oxford's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but T Boyd led the charge by going 6 of 10 on her way to 12 points and six steals. Boyd is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Thomas, who posted seven points along with nine boards and four steals.

Shades Valley dropped their record down to 15-9 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Oxford, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.

As of now, neither Shades Valley nor Oxford have any future games scheduled.
