Baseball Game Preview: Pennington Tigers vs. Locust Fork Hornets

The Pennington Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Locust Fork Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pennington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

While Pennington's victory against Locust Fork wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Pennington narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Locust Fork 9-8. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won three in a row.

Jesse Amos made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off only two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josiah Coover, who scored three runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Kaden Cantrell also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Pennington's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Locust Fork, they dropped their record down to 3-3 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
