Recap: Dove Creek Bulldogs vs. Lyons Lions
The Dove Creek Bulldogs and the Lyons Lions squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the Dove Creek Bulldogs had to settle for second. Dove Creek was beaten by Lyons 62-22. Dove Creek's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Dove Creek lost, one person who can't be blamed is Taber Dejane. Despite the final result, he rushed for 143 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Gage Buffington also helped out as he racked up 115 rushing yards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lyons to victory, but perhaps none more so than Miles Dumbauld, who rushed for 180 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries, and also threw for 163 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 passes. Dumbauld was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 53 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Malik Sigg-Brown, who gained 195 total yards and three touchdowns.
Dove Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Lyons, they have yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 11-0 record.
Dove Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lyons will head out on the road to face off against Mancos at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mancos is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
