Baseball Recap: Sherrard Wins Going Away Against Princeton

Sherrard made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Princeton, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Sherrard was the clear victor by an 11-4 margin over Princeton on Saturday. Considering Sherrard has won four matchups by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Eli Matson made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Matson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Harrison Curry, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Richard Shannon, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Sherrard kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Sherrard is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Princeton, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4-1.
