Basketball Recap: Ironwood Comes Up Short

Ironwood lost against Willow Canyon back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Ironwood Eagles lost 61-37 to the Willow Canyon Wildcats. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Willow Canyon was led to victory by Kandace O?Connell and Sarah Karnitz. O?Connell posted 13 points in addition to seven assists and seven steals, while Karnitz went 7 for 15 on her way to 21 points. The dominant performance gave O?Connell a new career-high in assists. Maya Marshall was another key player, putting up seven points and eight boards.

Ironwood's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Willow Canyon, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-6.

Ironwood will face off against Kellis at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Kellis will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Ironwood surely won't give up without a fight. As for Willow Canyon, they will square off against Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Willow Canyon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.4 points per game this season.
